Improve significantly the area between your eyes and highlight your lips with a mid-facelift. At Geoplasty Plastic Surgery, we restore the triangle of youth on your face with invisible incisions, using one of the latest procedures in plastic surgery.
What mid-facelift is
The first signs of human facial ageing show on the eye contour area. In most cases, this is combined with sagging skin and decrease in tissue volume, resulting in folds and wrinkles. The conventional facelift may provide, in most cases, the desired result, but annoying scars remain in many people.
The mid-facelift is a new technique, offering a solution to this problem. The procedure combines lower eyelid blepharoplasty with mid-facelift, using the existing incisions of blepharoplasty.
This procedure is the latest technique in plastic surgery. In one surgery, the eyelids are repaired, volume is added to the cheeks and the mid-face is lifted with inconspicuous incisions.
It is mainly addressed to people over 30 with mid-face tissue volume loss, severe nasolabial folds, as well as bags and sagging skin under the lower eyelids. Meaning, everything that gives the impression of an aged and tired-looking face.
How a mid-facelift is performed
The procedure is usually performed under local and twilight anaesthesia or general anaesthesia, and lasts around 3 hours. A preoperative check-up is performed before the procedure.
Careful incisions are performed below the lower lash line of the lower eyelids. Depending on each case, the procedure is performed with a small incision on the inside of the eyelid, through the conjunctiva. This technique leaves no scars and reduces the complications.
Initially, the lower eyelids are immediately corrected. Then, through appropriate techniques, loose tissue is repositioned over the cheeks and the mid-face is lifted to the position it was 10 years ago.
The procedure is performed with an endoscope and suitable tools.
What happens after the procedure
Following the mid-facelift procedure, you must stay in hospital overnight.
The estimated recovery time is approximately 5 days, exactly as long as necessary to remove the sutures. Then, you may continue your activities and return to your work.
It is important to keep your head elevated as much as possible during the first days after the procedure and avoid any intense sports for up to 2 weeks.
The personnel of Geoplasty Plastic Surgery are suitably trained to advise you on the best postoperative care plan.
What the possible complications of a mid-facelift are
The general complications are no different to the ones of a conventional facelift. Immediately after surgery, the eyelids may develop bruising and oedemas, which subside with ice and special eye drops.
Dr Georgopoulos will suggest ways to minimise these irritations and will prescribe special pharmaceutical treatment if you experience pain.
What other procedures a mid-facelift may be combined with
A mid-facelift may be combined with a forehead lift or blepharoplasty, so as to get an excellent natural appearance overall.
The procedure that will finally be performed will depend on your requirements and what will produce the best results for you.
As an expert in this field, Dr Georgopoulos will advise and guide you responsibly, so you may decide which lifting procedure is suitable for you.
